A letter from the editors-in-chief

To the Loyola Community,

Welcome to the 2016-17 school year, a time to grow as a student, a time to develop as a leader, a time to serve as a man for others and a time to blossom as a member of the Cub community.

We are excited to enter the school year as the Editors-in-Chief of The Loyalist, Loyola’s student-run newspaper for 91 years. We would like to thank last year’s editorial staff for their tremendous mentorship and support.

The Loyalist staff experienced great success last year. In addition to re-launching our website, we worked together to publish 12 issues. In addition, we placed first in the American Scholastic Press Association Awards, and we received many kind comments from you, our beloved readers.

This year, we will continue to build upon that success. With the help of our dedicated adviser Christine Moore, we plan to publish another set of 12 issues that will feature distinct and dynamic stories exploring life on and around campus. We hope to expand our social media presence with more frequent updates on Twitter and Instagram, and we hope to continue providing factual, relevant and significant information in our print editions.

As always, thank you for your support and enthusiasm for the paper. We appreciate your readership and are always receptive to your feedback.

Enjoy the year.

Your Editors-in-Chief,

Conor Gaffney and Nicholas Salinas
