Loyola Ambassadors Attend High School Information Nights

Loyola’s High School Information Nights, organized by Director of Admissions Heath Utley and Assistant Director of Admissions Matthew Baham, offers prospective eighth graders about Loyola and its community. Baham and Utley traveled to different feeder schools, beginning with St. Thomas More School on Thursday, Sept. 14, with over 60 Loyola students to present basic information and answer questions prospective students and parents may have.

The last High School Information Night was held on Thursday, Nov. 16, at Vista Charter Middle School and St. Cornelius School.

Loyola gives presentations at all schools that invite Loyola to give informational presentations across the LA county with approximately 125-135 schools being reached throughout the admissions season beginning in September and ending in the first week of December. Loyola has been attending these events for the last 20 years to provide greater insight into Loyola for prospective students.

Baham said, “Loyola goes to these events because the application process and the number of choices can be overwhelming. We attend as many presentations that we are invited to to give people a better understanding of who Loyola is and what Loyola has to offer.”

Students and staff members chosen to help Utley and Baham are generally asked by the admissions office to assist in these presentations. They are chosen through a selection process that is managed by Utley. Baham said, “We try to choose students that are alums of the school we are presenting at.  We also have student ambassadors that are chosen by the Director of Admissions, Mr. Utley, who trains them with the aide of Mr. Melvin Robert.”
