Led by Coach Flores, the JV football team has a 2-6 record, going 0-4 in league.
Sophomore wide receiver Aidan Osterman said, “It’s been a disappointing season having lost so many starters to injury, but we’ve shown a lot of improvement going into the last stretch of the season.”
During their first game, the Cubs faced Fairfax at home, and won their first game of the season. The final score was 63-0, giving them confidence after only their first game.
Osterman said, “All of the work we put in during summer really showed during this game. This’ll give us good confidence for the upcoming games.”
The Cubs also faced rival Cathedral in a rare saturday morning game beating the phantoms 21-8 in a solid victory for the team.
Sophomore wide receiver Thomas Hatton said, “Our defense played lights out against Cathedral and put our offense in great field position throughout the whole game which allowed us to capitalize and score.
The Cubs opened Mission League Play against Chaminade on Thursday, Oct. 12. The Cubs started out slow in the first half and quickly got down 21-0.
In the second half, the Cubs picked it up and had one of their most impressive offensive performances they’ve had in the last four games, but it was a challenge for the defense to stop Chaminade’s explosiveness.
“Our offense and defense came out slow and Chaminade got out to a quick 21-0 lead, but our players battled back and we played very hard from then on out,” said sophomore safety Chad Bailey. “Our offense played one of the best games they had played all year long, but it wasn’t enough to pull out a win.”

Joshua Mendoza says, “If our offense keeps it up, and our defense puts in all that it has, I think we can finish our season strong.”
The Cubs will conclude their season with a home game against Alemany on Thursday, November 12.
